New Light Array Module advances phototropic organism research <\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div><\/section>

Beckman Coulter Life Sciences has introduced a new Light Array Module (LAM) for the BioLector XT Microbioreactor which is set to advance research with a wide range of phototrophic organisms.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The Light Array Module provides customizable light settings of 400-700 nm within the photosynthetic spectrum, including day and nighttime lighting. The spectral flexibility is achieved by 16 LED-types, which can be controlled individually to deliver maximum irradiances and photon flux densities of up to 3500 \u00b5mol\/m2\/s (micromoles reaching one square metre per second).<\/p>\n

High-throughput screening and process optimization<\/strong><\/p>\n

The new technology enables high-throughput screening and process optimization for a wide range of phototrophic organisms, including microalgae and cyanobacteria. Utilizing real-time biomass, chlorophyll concentration, and fluorescence measurements, the BioLector XT Microbioreactor with LAM gives users real-time data without the need for pipetting samples for analysis.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur Light Array Module provides researchers with customizable illumination for organisms growing inside the microbioreactor, for the first time enabling photosynthesis, which can provide deeper analysis and richer reporting without interruption,\u201d said Simon Briel, Product Manager for the BioLector XT Microbioreactor.<\/p>\n

Following its launch in May 2021, the BioLector XT Microbioreactor has earned a loyal following. Equipped with patented FlowerPlate microtiter plate technology, it enables high-throughput strain screening, cultivation parameter monitoring, and feeding strategy optimization. The BioLector XT Microbioreactor is ideally suited for microbial, fungal, and algal cultivations with real-time evaluations of biomass, pH, dissolved oxygen, and fluorescence for aerobes and anaerobes.<\/p>\n
