Intelsint showcases EFTP Plus tissue processor with RFID technology
Italian histopathology equipment manufacturer Intelsint has introduced its EFTP Plus vacuum tissue processor, featuring advanced RFID identification technology for enhanced laboratory safety and workflow efficiency. The fully enclosed system was showcased at ECP 2025 in Vienna.
Enhanced safety through intelligent reagent management
The EFTP Plus incorporates an exclusive reagent identification system utilising RFID/NFC technology with twelve dedicated cards corresponding to each reagent tank. This system provides comprehensive process control by “preventing errors, ensuring correct positioning, and offering real-time quality feedback with clear visual signals.”
The processor accommodates up to 420 cassettes whilst maintaining operator protection without microwave technology. According to the company, the system “guides the operator step by step” to enhance safety protocols and traceability throughout tissue processing workflows.
Rapid processing capabilities
Performance specifications highlight the system’s efficiency in processing formalin-fixed needle biopsies, completing cycles “in just 45 minutes with either traditional reagents or modern substitutes.” This processing speed addresses growing laboratory throughput demands whilst maintaining specimen integrity.
Established manufacturing heritage
Founded in 1989 and based in Villarbasse, Turin, Intelsint specialises in three core areas of histological sample preparation: tissue processors, stainers, and coverslippers. The company maintains complete in-house design and manufacturing processes, ensuring quality control across production stages.
