Asynt’s parallel temperature-controlled overhead stirring system expands capabilities
A new temperature-controlled version of the DrySyn Vortex Parallel Overhead Stirring System has been introduced by Asynt, offering lab scientists enhanced control for multiple parallel reactions. The system enables active heating or cooling whilst maintaining efficient overhead stirring for viscous or heterogeneous reaction mixtures.
Enhanced temperature management
The upgraded system incorporates circulator technology, allowing precise temperature control from ambient to 150°C as standard. When fitted with optional DrySyn SnowStorm MULTI inserts, the operating range extends from -30°C to 150°C, providing versatility for various reaction conditions.
Practical considerations for laboratory workflows
The compact design accommodates three separate reaction positions, each capable of handling round bottom flasks up to 500mL. This configuration is particularly valuable for scientists working with reaction systems where traditional magnetic stirring might prove problematic, such as heterogeneous mixtures or materials susceptible to grinding damage.
Optimised control features
A key advancement in the system is its ability to maintain constant solution temperatures through controlled ramping, reducing temperature overshoots. This feature proves especially beneficial for managing exothermic and endothermic reactions, as well as polymerisation processes.
Mechanical efficiency and adaptability
The system employs a maintenance-free mechanical gearbox that can be adjusted to provide enhanced stirring power through a reduction drive. This adaptability extends to compatibility with major overhead stirrer brands, allowing researchers to optimise their existing equipment whilst potentially tripling their parallel reaction capacity.
The gearbox design permits easy exchange of stirrer shafts and heads, enabling customisation to specific experimental requirements. This flexibility, combined with the robust construction, positions the system as a durable laboratory solution.
