Azenta Life Sciences has unveiled its latest innovation in sample storage technology, designed to meet the exacting standards of compound libraries, biobanks, and cryogenic storage facilities. The FluidX™ Tri-Coded Sample Tubes incorporate cutting-edge features aimed at maintaining sample integrity and ensuring lifelong chain of custody.

External thread design maximises utility

The tubes feature an external thread design, which not only prevents over-tightening but also provides a larger working volume compared to internal thread alternatives. This design choice reflects a keen understanding of the practical needs in laboratory settings.

Tri-coding technology enhances sample tracking

At the heart of the FluidX™ system is its proprietary tri-coding technology. Each tube bears a permanently laser-etched 2D code on its base, complemented by a 1D linear barcode and human-readable number on the side. This comprehensive labelling system facilitates seamless sample tracking and data sharing across multiple users, laboratories, and locations.

Notably, the high-contrast 2D codes remain readable even in frost or condensation-prone conditions, without the need to remove tubes from racks. This feature is particularly valuable in cryogenic storage environments.

Compatibility with automated systems

The tubes are designed to integrate smoothly with both semi-automated and fully automated workflows on various platforms. This compatibility extends to automated code reading, capping, and sample management systems from Azenta Life Sciences and other industry-recognised manufacturers.

Manufactured from USP Class VI virgin polypropylene resin in a class 8 cleanroom facility, the tubes are subjected to rigorous testing. Each batch is verified to be free of detectable extractables, leachables, endotoxins, DNA/RNA, and heavy metals, ensuring the highest standards of sample protection.
