Bio-Rad introduces next-generation specialty immunoassay controls

Bio-Rad Laboratories has unveiled its latest offering in quality control products for clinical laboratories: the Specialty Immunoassay Plus (SPIA Plus). This new line of controls is designed to enhance precision in specialty immunoassay testing procedures.

Comprehensive analyte coverage

The SPIA Plus range comprises four levels of controls, featuring a wide array of clinically relevant analytes. Notable inclusions are Procalcitonin, Interleukin-6, Active Vitamin B12, TRAb (Thyrotropin Receptor Antibodies), TSI (Thyroid Stimulating Immunoglobulin), and Fructosamine. Additionally, the controls incorporate optimised Vitamin D ranges to support assays compliant with the Vitamin D Standardization Program (VDSP).

Enhanced stability and efficiency

A key improvement in the SPIA Plus line is the extended open-vial stability for intact PTH (Parathyroid Hormone), which aims to reduce quality control waste in laboratories. The controls are available in liquid format, offering convenience and reducing preparation time.

To streamline laboratory workflows, Bio-Rad offers SPIA Plus in two configurations: the automation-compatible InteliQ format and the standard vial Liquichek format. Both options come with barcoding for ease of use and improved traceability.

Data management integration

SPIA Plus integrates with Bio-Rad’s Unity data management software. This integration allows laboratories to benchmark their results against a global peer group, providing additional confidence in instrument performance and patient results.

The launch of SPIA Plus represents Bio-Rad’s commitment to advancing quality control in specialty immunoassay testing, offering laboratories a comprehensive solution for monitoring and ensuring the precision of their analytical procedures.
