Biotech Fluidics has released a new range of miniature flat-bottom port fittings designed specifically for life science microfluidic instrumentation handling low liquid volumes in space-constrained environments.
Novel ferrule design enables secure connections
The fittings address the challenges of connecting semi-rigid tubing within fluidic systems operating at low to medium pressures. The company’s design incorporates a proprietary ferrule that seals the liquid pathway, combined with a lock ring that secures the ferrule and prevents leaks when tightened. This configuration maintains connection integrity even under vibration and allows nut tightening without twisting the tubing – a common issue in traditional fitting designs.
The fittings accommodate multiple outer diameter tubing options whilst interfacing with standard flat-bottom receiving ports. According to the company, this approach “couple[s] convenience with performance” for researchers and instrument developers requiring reliable fluid handling.
PEEK construction ensures biocompatibility
Manufactured from polyetheretherketone (PEEK), the fittings offer excellent biocompatibility for clinical and laboratory applications.
