BioTech Fluidics has launched the mikron 91, a compact inline pH probe engineered specifically for analytical and preparative chromatography applications alongside continuous bioprocessing workflows. This robust flow-through sensor represents a significant advancement in real-time pH monitoring capabilities for laboratory environments.
Technical specifications deliver precision monitoring
The mikron 91’s innovative design accommodates flow rates up to 1,000 ml/min whilst maintaining back pressure below 1 bar (14.5 psi). The device measures just 32 mm (1.25”) in diameter and 115 mm (4.5”) in length, enabling installation in space-constrained laboratory setups.
“This robust flow-through sensor delivers accurate, temperature-compensated pH measurements of liquids flowing through either of its two flow cell design options,” the company stated.
Advanced electrode technology enhances reliability
The mikron 91 incorporates a fully temperature-compensated pH-meter featuring a long-life ISFET measuring electrode paired with either KCl or Ag/AgCl reference electrodes. This configuration ensures precise, temperature-compensated pH measurements across diverse analytical conditions.
The measuring cell maintains full biocompatibility and carries USP Class VI certification for cleanroom environments, addressing stringent pharmaceutical and biotechnology requirements.
Predictive maintenance capabilities reduce downtime
A key innovation lies in the device’s data storage functionality. “The mikron 91 not only stores calibration data and the operating time for the measuring and reference electrodes, but also the time exposure for each pH range,” according to BioTech Fluidics. This comprehensive monitoring system facilitates predictive maintenance protocols whilst minimising operational interruptions.
Connectivity and compliance standards
The mikron 91 features USB-C connectivity for both communication and power delivery. The manufacturer provides drivers compatible with established chromatography software platforms, whilst offering open protocol options for customised implementations.
