Capricorn Scientific opens 4,000 m² European logistics hub to strengthen life science supply chains
Capricorn Scientific has announced the opening of a new logistics and infrastructure facility in Ebsdorfergrund, Germany, marking a significant expansion of the company’s European operational capacity in support of regulated biotech, pharma, diagnostics, and cell therapy markets.
Strategic location underpins distribution efficiency
Situated near Marburg and Frankfurt am Main, with direct access to Frankfurt International Airport, the 4,000 m² site has been designed to facilitate both national and international distribution of cell culture products. The modular facility incorporates optimised truck access, multiple loading docks, and clearly separated logistics zones to support high-throughput operations. Temperature-controlled storage across three ranges — +2 to +8 °C, −20 °C, and humidity-controlled ambient conditions — ensures consistent handling of thermolabile and sensitive biological materials.
Quality and compliance built into facility design
The facility has been developed in alignment with current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) standards, with access-controlled zones supporting customers operating in both upstream and downstream regulated environments. For clinical laboratory scientists and biotech manufacturers, this infrastructure offers greater supply security, reduced lead times, and standardised processes compatible with framework agreements and long-term procurement models.
Expansion plans already in progress
Further development of the site is under way, with planned additions including liquid bag filling capabilities, scaled powder production, and dedicated research and development space. This phased approach reflects Capricorn Scientific’s stated commitment to building a platform that spans logistics through to production and innovation. The company intends to create up to 40 new positions over the next two years as part of this investment.
By retaining direct control over its European logistics and storage infrastructure, Capricorn Scientific aims to deliver scalable solutions — from small development quantities to industrial batch sizes — without interruption to process continuity.
