Cherwell Laboratories completes strategic integration as AnalytiChem UK

Cherwell Laboratories, the established cleanroom microbiology specialist will transition to AnalytiChem UK from September 2025, marking the completion of its integration with the global AnalytiChem Group whilst maintaining its 54-year heritage in pharmaceutical manufacturing support and quality control solutions.

Bicester-based Cherwell Laboratories is set to complete its transformation into AnalytiChem UK on 1st September 2025, representing the final phase of integration following its acquisition by the AnalytiChem Group in January 2024. The rebranding signals a strategic consolidation within the global analytical chemistry and microbiology sector, positioning the company for enhanced market reach whilst preserving its established operational framework.

Strategic alignment maintains operational continuity

The nomenclature change represents exclusively a branding transition, with all existing operational parameters remaining unchanged. Cherwell’s ISO9001-registered manufacturing facility in Bicester will continue producing its Redipor® branded prepared media products, maintaining the same quality standards, personnel structure, and customer service protocols that have defined the company’s market position over five decades.

“Our name may be changing, but our long-standing Cherwell values and culture will absolutely be maintained and business will very much continue as usual – just with a strengthened ability to collaborate with our sister companies and deliver on the opportunities that this presents for us and our customers,” said Andy Whittard, Managing Director.

Enhanced product development through global integration

The integration has already yielded tangible technological advancement, exemplified by the recent launch of Redipor® TwistLock plates. This innovation required substantial capital investment, including installation of a dedicated production line at the Bicester facility. The enhanced locking mechanism addresses critical sample security requirements in environmental monitoring programmes for sterile product manufacturing, demonstrating the practical benefits of increased research and development capacity.

Expanding market presence within analytical chemistry sector

AnalytiChem operates eight manufacturing and commercial sites across Europe, North America, and Australia, creating a comprehensive network of complementary technologies and manufacturing expertise. This global infrastructure enables accelerated product development and market expansion opportunities for the UK operation, particularly in pharmaceutical manufacturing and related industries where controlled environment management remains critical.

Strengthened position in cleanroom microbiology solutions

The transition positions AnalytiChem UK to leverage decades of combined manufacturing experience and technological capabilities across the broader group. The company’s specialisation in prepared microbiological media and environmental monitoring equipment serves pharmaceutical manufacturers requiring stringent contamination control and regulatory compliance.

Whittard emphasised the growth potential inherent in the transition: “Becoming AnalytiChem UK is the next exciting chapter in Cherwell’s strong heritage in quality and innovation, presenting many further opportunities for future growth and expansion.”

Market implications for pharmaceutical manufacturing

The consolidation reflects broader trends in analytical chemistry and microbiology sectors, where globalised supply chains and regulatory harmonisation drive strategic partnerships. AnalytiChem’s portfolio encompasses specialised laboratory equipment, reagents, and consumables designed to support critical measurements in analytical chemistry and microbiology applications.
