Electron Microscopy Sciences and Azer Scientific merge to form Biolyst Scientific

In a significant development for the life sciences sector, Electron Microscopy Sciences (EMS) and Azer Scientific have merged to form Biolyst Scientific. The new company has an extensive portfolio of over 30,000 products spanning microscopy, histology, and other research domains.

The name ‘Biolyst’ is a portmanteau of ‘bio’, signifying the company’s impact on enhancing and extending life, and ‘lyst’, underlining its role as a catalyst in facilitating breakthroughs with precision and efficiency. This rebranding reflects the company’s commitment to accelerating life sciences discoveries that improve human health and well-being.

Rajan Kapadia, President and CEO of Biolyst Scientific, expressed his enthusiasm about the merger: “New frontiers in Life Sciences are creating a need for accurate data acquisition and speed of discovery – we don’t just deliver products on time, but elevate the customer experience by providing unparalleled reliability, precision, and a relentless focus on surfacing genuine solutions for the needs of the lab.”

Combining scale with personalised service

Despite its expanded scale, Biolyst Scientific pledges to maintain the collaborative and personalised approach that characterised its constituent companies. This strategy aims to assist clinicians and researchers in expanding their discovery efforts cost-effectively, positioning Biolyst as a key partner for innovative laboratories.

The integration process, which began following the merger announcement in August 2023, has prioritised commercial cohesion. This focus ensures a seamless sales and service experience for both current and future customers, tracking their growth and promoting new discoveries.

To maintain continuity in customer interactions, Biolyst Scientific plans to retain the EMS and Azer websites, ERP systems, and other key touchpoints. These established brands will continue to exist as ‘power brands’ within the company’s product portfolio, leveraging their existing reputation and customer loyalty.

The merger comes at a time when the life sciences field is experiencing rapid advancements, creating an increased demand for accurate data acquisition and accelerated discovery processes. Biolyst Scientific’s comprehensive offering is poised to meet these needs, providing researchers and clinicians with the tools and support necessary to push the boundaries of scientific knowledge.
