Fujifilm Irvine Scientific expands life sciences portfolio, integrates key products from Fujifilm Wako Chemicals
Fujifilm Irvine Scientific, a provider of cell culture solutions for life science and medical markets, has announced an expansion of its product portfolio through alignment with its sister company, Fujifilm Wako Chemicals U.S.A., Corp. From 1 October 2024, Fujifilm Irvine Scientific will directly promote products from three divisions of Fujifilm Wako Chemicals –Lab Automation, Lab Chemicals, and LAL Group – to customers in the United States and Europe.
Enhanced product range and services
The integration aims to create a comprehensive suite of products, including cell culture solutions, laboratory chemicals, clinical diagnostic reagents, and laboratory automation software and services. This move is expected to benefit researchers and professionals in various life science sectors.
Whilst both companies will maintain separate business operations for product development, manufacturing facilities, and quality standards, sales will be consolidated under Fujifilm Irvine Scientific’s Life Sciences business unit.
Global distribution network
Fujifilm Irvine Scientific, established in 1970, has a global network spanning the United States, Europe, and Asia. This infrastructure is anticipated to facilitate efficient distribution of Fujifilm Wako products. Meanwhile, Fujifilm Wako Pure Chemical Corporation will continue direct sales to customers in Asia.
Strategic synergies within Fujifilm Group
This development follows a broader strategy within Fujifilm Corporation’s Life Sciences Business Division to create synergies across the Fujifilm Group. The goal is to offer tailored, comprehensive solutions to a wide range of life science customers.
Yutaka Yamaguchi, general manager of Life Sciences Business Division, Fujifilm Corporation, stated: “In 2020, Fujifilm Irvine Scientific began selling iCell products from Fujifilm Cellular Dynamics, and now we are excited to bring together the right mix of products from all of these Fujifilm teams, leveraging our collective expertise to offer our partners a breadth of life science solutions in one single destination.”
