Gentronix receives King’s Award for Enterprise following significant international growth
UK-based toxicology specialist Contract Research Organisation (CRO) Gentronix has been awarded the prestigious King’s Award for Enterprise for 2024 in recognition of its remarkable international trade performance. The Alderley Park-based firm has demonstrated exceptional growth in overseas earnings, with a 239% increase over the past three years.
The percentage of total sales exported by Gentronix has risen from 71% to 81% during this period, propelling the company’s annual revenue to over £10 million. The United States has emerged as a particularly strong market, now accounting for nearly half of the firm’s international business. Gentronix has also expanded its client base to include customers in Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, Japan, and Denmark.
Increased capacity to meet demand
To support its rapid expansion, Gentronix has increased its laboratory space at Alderley Park by 30%, adding an additional 5,000 square feet. The company has also expanded its workforce to 67 employees, with plans for further investment in 2024 and 2025. Notably, Gentronix now supports seven of the top 10 global pharmaceutical companies.
Enhanced regulatory support
The company’s growth has bolstered its ability to assist clients in meeting regulatory requirements, identifying potential hazards within project pipelines, and managing risk for their materials. This expansion has also created over 30 new job opportunities for scientists in the North West of England over the past three years.
CEO Matt Tate commented on the achievement, stating: “The past three years have been extremely successful for the business as we continue on our long-term growth journey, and it has been especially satisfying to provide our services to new customers across the globe.”
He added: “To be recognised with a King’s Award is a fabulous achievement and is testament to the exceptional work that the entire team has put into realising our growth ambitions and cementing our credentials as a truly international business.”
