Indica Labs expands digital pathology solutions in Asia Pacific
The EURORealTime SARS-CoV-2 from EUROIMMUN is now validated for use with saliva as sample material as an alternative to throat swabs. Collection of saliva specimens is easier and less distressing for patients than taking nasal or throat swabs, especially for children.
Indica Labs, a leader in AI-powered digital pathology software, has announced a significant expansion of its reseller network in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region. The company has established new distributorship agreements with firms in the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, and Malaysia, building upon its existing commercial presence in China and Japan.
CE-IVDR marked platform now available in new markets
The expansion allows APAC distributors to offer HALO AP, a CE-IVDR marked enterprise digital pathology platform, alongside HALO Clinical AI Solutions. These AI solutions, which integrate with HALO AP, include modules for prostate cancer, lung PD-L1 expression, breast IHC, and slide quality control.
Steven Hashagen, CEO of Indica Labs, commented on the expansion: “We are delighted to expand our reach in the APAC region by onboarding resellers whose extensive digital pathology experience and existing customer base will facilitate immediate results and high-quality support of our products in the region.”
Regulatory status
While HALO AP and HALO AI Prostate are CE-IVDR marked for in-vitro diagnostic use in Europe, the UK, and Switzerland, they remain for research use only in the United States and are not FDA cleared for clinical diagnostic use. The company is actively pursuing additional IVD registrations in the APAC region.
The expansion is expected to have a significant impact on histopathology laboratories in the region. Maristel Abigail R. Lim of MRL Cybertec Corp, a new distributor in the Philippines, noted: “This collaboration will bring their innovative AI technology to our product offerings, aiming to boost efficiency and optimise workflows in histopathology labs throughout the country.”
