Calcium-Cresolphtalein reagent
, /in Product News /by 3wmediaCalcium in the sample (serum, plasma or urine) reacts with o-cresolphtalein complexone (o-CPC) forming a coloured complex that can be measured by spectrophotometry. BioSystems covers different calcium CPC presentation kits adjusted to different analysers as well as manual presentations which include an aqueous primary standard. Despite this, it is recommended to calibrate using a biochemistry calibrator, bovine-(18011) or human-(18044) based. The calcium concentration values for all serum reference materials provided for this new method are the same as for the MTB method.

Kits for urinary protein testing
, /in Product News /by 3wmediaA complete range of kits for the testing of urinary proteins is available. Such tests are particularly useful from a diagnostic viewpoint, providing important information for the diagnosis of renal diseases, monitoring and differential analysis of proteinurias. All reagents are latex-based, ready-to-use and validated according to the international CLSI protocols. Within the range, urinary-Transferrin, urinary-Albumin (micro-albuminuria), and urinary-IgG, are of paramount importance. Albuminuria is one of the most important markers for damages to the endothelium. Pathological levels of urinary albumin (micro-albuminuria) are present in diabetes, hypertension, and during the early stages of preeclampsia. Transferrin and albumin together are pathognomonic of selective glomerular proteinuria. If the IgG levels rise the glomerular proteinuria becomes non selective. The accuracy guaranteed by the method allows correct calculation of the Cameron index (ratio between IgG clearance and transferrin clearance). The urinary proteins kits are available as both turbidimetry and nephelometry. The dedicated product lines include calibrators and controls whose assigned values are in accordance with International Scientific Committee’s guidelines. All urine testing products from Sclavo are available in specific formats and packaging developed for all Sclavo Systems (Sclavo Palio, Dirui, Konelab), Sclavo EasyNeph (nephelometry), in addition to the multi-purpose format. Along with specific proteins kits, the company offers a dedicated kit for testing total urinary proteins, highly sensitive to both tubular proteins, as well as Bence-Jones proteinuria, ensuring reliable and accurate results.

Colorectal cancer screening test
, /in Product News /by 3wmediaBiohit is introducing the new ColonView Hb and Hb/ Hp tests, which are intended for simple detection of fecal occult blood in stool samples. The detection of blood is based on sensitive and specific immunochemical detection of human hemoglobin or hemoglobin/haptoglobin complex. The principal application of the tests is to screen for lower gastrointestinal pathologies, such as colorectal cancers and large adenomas that bleed. The quick and simple, one-step lateral flow tests require no dietary restrictions and give results in only 15 minutes.

Immunochemical fecal occult blood test
, /in Product News /by 3wmediaVarious Fecal occult blood tests (FOBTs) are available, however, many have a high rate of inaccuracies and false positives. The Hemosure iFOBT (FIT) -fecal immunochemical test- doesn’t require drug or diet restrictions, only one test is needed and it has a higher patient compliance rate. A rapid, convenient and odourless qualitative, sandwich dye conjugate immunoassay, the test employs a unique combination of monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies to selectively identify elevated levels of human hemoglobin as low as 50 ng / mL in five minutes. It is a useful aid in the diagnosis of gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding in a number of GI disorders, e.g. diverticulitis, colitis, polyps, and colorectal cancer. The immunochemical test is specific to human hemoglobin and reduces false positives while offering the correct level of specificity and sensitivity for accurate reading.

Liquid chemistry controls
, /in Product News /by 3wmediaContaining 100 analytes all within one vial, Acusera Liquid Assayed Chemistry Premium and Premium Plus drastically reduce the number of individual controls a laboratory needs to run, whilst ensuring highly accurate results. The controls contain a unique combination of proteins, lipids, immunoassays, cardiac markers, therapeutic drugs and routine chemistry analytes. High levels of CRP and key proteins eliminate the need for multiple controls. The controls are assayed, with clinically significant values provided for a range of analysers at key decision points. Available in three concentration levels covering the full clinical range, the controls are liquid for ease of use and highly stable when stored at -20 to -70°C with open vial stability of up to 7 days at +2-8°C. Manufactured using high quality human-based serum, ensuring performance that closely mirrors patient samples, these true third party controls enable unbiased and independent assessment of analytical performance.

Human African Trypanosomiasis test
, /in Product News /by 3wmediaHuman African Trypanosomiasis (HAT) or sleeping sickness is a life threatening neglected tropical infection affecting rural population in sub-Saharan Africa. The disease causes severe neurological disorders often leading to death if not treated. Since years, HAT control has been facilitated by the Card Agglutination Test for Trypanosomiasis (CATT/T.b.gambiense), which is particularly suited for large scale screening. But now, with the steadily decreasing prevalence of HAT, specificity becomes a critical parameter. Furthermore, the target population lives in precarious conditions (without electricity) and this test must be robust enough to be carried out in very difficult conditions. A new diagnostic test stable at ambient temperature, cheap and that can be performed with minimal training is the best solution. To fulfil all these requirements, Coris BioConcept has developed the “HAT Sero K-SeT”, which has been successfully validated in the DR of Congo (specificity of 98,6 % ; sensitivity of 98,5 % ; n=493).

D-Dimer automated Immunoassay
, /in Product News /by 3wmediaD-Dimer is a critical test to rule out the presence of a thrombus, especially in patients in suspicion of deep vein thrombosis (DVT), pulmonary embolism (PE) or strokes. Other applications are situated in the diagnosis of hypercoagulation and disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC). The ST AIA-Pack D-Dimer assay uses the Tosoh AIA-Pack single test technology: all specific reagents to perform one test are contained in one and the same cup (one cup = one test), making it a most economical way to perform immunoassays. The D-Dimer result becomes available in less than 20 minutes after the start of the test and runs on all Tosoh Automated Immunoassay Analysers (AIA-360, AIA-900 series, AIA-2000). The test meets all standards for the routine and emergency clinical diagnosis.
