Strategic workflow enhancement drives collaboration

The agreement centres on MACHEREY-NAGEL’s extensive Bioanalysis portfolio, which includes trusted solutions for RNA, DNA, and protein purification from diverse sample types and formats. These products are manufactured in Germany and backed by the company’s in-house research and development capabilities, establishing a foundation for scientific precision and reliability.

Caroline Cousquer, Head of Marketing, EMEA at Takara Bio Europe, emphasised the natural synergy between the companies’ offerings. “Researchers have long paired MN’s extraction and purification kits with our downstream tools like PCR and NGS, and with great success,” she commented. “This partnership gives scientists even more confidence in their workflow.”

Expanding market reach through established networks

MACHEREY-NAGEL brings significant manufacturing heritage to the partnership, having operated since 1911 with headquarters in Düren, Germany. The company employs over 700 staff across its main site and subsidiaries in Switzerland, France, and the United States, supporting a portfolio of more than 25,000 products spanning filtration, rapid testing, water analysis, chromatography, and bioanalysis.

Peter Kuckenberg, Director International Sales at MN, highlighted the complementary strengths of both organisations. “We have long admired the quality of support and expertise Takara Bio Europe brings to the scientific community,” he said. “This collaboration is a natural fit, and we’re excited to see our technologies reach more researchers through their established network.”

Enhanced capabilities strengthen molecular biology ecosystem

Takara Bio Europe operates as a subsidiary of Takara Bio Inc., maintaining a comprehensive portfolio that supports applications including next-generation sequencing, cloning, genetic analysis, protein expression and purification, gene editing, and stem cell research. Key products include SMART NGS kits for DNA and RNA sequencing, high-performance qPCR and PCR reagents, RT enzymes, and the In-Fusion cloning system.

The company has recently expanded its capabilities through the acquisition of Curio Bioscience, adding spatial transcriptomics expertise to complement existing strengths in NGS research and development, manufacturing, and automation solutions. This expanded portfolio supports research areas encompassing NGS, gene discovery and regulation, genetic analysis, protein expression and purification, gene editing, stem cell research, and plant and food science applications.
