Thermo Scientific to connect its Cascadion SM Clinical Analyzer to Inpeco’s Flex Lab laboratory automation system

Thermo Fisher Scientific and Inpeco have agreed to develop connectivity between the Thermo Scientific Cascadion SM Clinical Analyzer and the Inpeco FlexLab laboratory automation system (LAS). This interface will enable primary tubes on the Inpeco LAS to be transported to the Cascadion analyzer for automated loading, pre-treatment, and analysis.

“This development, using the market leading automation and software provided by Inpeco, will further enhance the capability of the Cascadion analyzer in managing samples in a fully automated manner. It will increase and enhance the analytical scope for laboratories using an LAS supported by Inpeco and add additional productivity benefits for Cascadion users,” said Heikki Immonen, director of product lifecycle and marketing, Thermo Scientific.

Commercial availability

The Cascadion SM Clinical Analyzer is currently commercially available in the US and Europe, with continued expansion into new geographies. After the initial launch of Cascadion SM 25-OH Vitamin D assay, the CE-IVD marked Cascadion SM Immunosuppressants Panel was launched in Europe in 2020.

“The development of the interface to the Inpeco LAS system will make this a first to market tracked solution for LC-MS/MS technology,” said Francesco Parodi, total lab automation product manager, Inpeco S.A. “We are excited at the prospect of having Cascadion link to our system and extend our range of analyzer connectivity to include LC-MS/MS technology.”
