Torrey Pines introduces precision-controlled heating solution for laboratory applications
Advanced thermal uniformity capabilities
Torrey Pines Scientific has unveiled its WaferPlate programmable heating system, designed specifically for precision temperature control applications. The Model HP90 features exceptional thermal uniformity across its 352.4mm circular aluminium surfatce, maintaining temperature consistency within 1% across the central 304mm area.
Programmable protocol management
The system offers comprehensive programming capabilities essential for laboratory protocols requiring precise thermal cycling. Users can store five distinct routines with ten steps each for consistent experimental replication. Each protocol can be programmed to automatically repeat up to 98 times or continuously if required, ensuring methodological consistency across extended experimental procedures.
Technical specifications for laboratory integration
The HP90 provides temperature control from ambient to 350°C with 1°C precision and accuracy exceeding 1% across its operational range. Temperature sensing utilises platinum RTD technology embedded within the heating plate for reliable monitoring. The system supports temperature ramping from 1°C/hour to 450°C/hour, includes countdown timer functionality with alerts, and features user-configurable automatic shutdown for laboratory safety protocols.
Laboratory validation is supported through included temperature calibration certificates with traceability to NIST standards, ensuring compliance with quality management systems commonly required in clinical and research settings.
Connectivity and operational flexibility
The system incorporates RS232 connectivity for remote operation from laboratory information systems or centralised controllers, supporting integration with automated workflow systems. Compatible with standard laboratory power supplies, the WaferPlate is available in 100, 115, and 230 VAC configurations (1500 watts, 50/60 Hz), with ETL, CSA, and CE certification pending.
