Vapourtec introduces compact peptide synthesis system
Vapourtec, a leading manufacturer of flow chemistry instruments, has launched the Peptide-ExplorerLT, a new system designed for chemists exploring and optimising linear peptide synthesis. This compact device aims to make Fast Flow Solid Phase Peptide Synthesis (FF-SPPS) more accessible to researchers.
Streamlined synthesis process
The Peptide-ExplorerLT simplifies the synthesis setup process. Users input the resin amount, loading, and amino acid sequence, after which the software generates an optimised reaction protocol. This includes tailored methods for amino acids prone to racemisation and cyclisation.
Dr Manuel Nuño, Vapourtec’s Chief Scientific Officer, explained: “Peptide chemists can now access all the benefits of Fast Flow Solid Phase Peptide Synthesis (FF-SPPS) at a price that is comparable with traditional, automated batch synthesisers.”
Compact design for laboratory efficiency
With dimensions of 107 cm x 54 cm x 109 cm, including space for solvent containers and waste, the Peptide-ExplorerLT offers a significantly reduced footprint compared to traditional systems. This compact design addresses space constraints often faced in laboratory settings.
Scalable synthesis capabilities
The system is available with three reactor sizes, offering maximum working volumes of 4 ml, 9.5 ml, and 21 ml. These options allow
for synthesis scales ranging from 0.05 to 1.0 mmol, catering to various research needs.
While the Peptide-ExplorerLT excels in linear peptide synthesis, it cannot perform automated side chain addition via solvent change and Mtt group deprotection. However, users have the option to upgrade to the full Peptide-Explorer or Peptide-Scaleup systems for enhanced capabilities.
Advanced software integration
The system features modern touch-screen software that includes a sequence generator and real-time presentation of in-line analytic
data, enhancing user experience and data interpretation.
