Vapourtec unveils compact peptide synthesiser for high-throughput laboratory applications
Vapourtec has launched the Peptide-Builder, a benchtop solid-phase peptide synthesis (SPPS) system designed to streamline peptide production in research and clinical laboratories. The automated platform combines compact design with high-throughput capabilities, addressing space constraints whilst maintaining synthesis performance.
Variable bed flow reactor technology enhances efficiency
Central to the system is Vapourtec’s Variable Bed Flow Reactor (VBFR) technology, which improves cycle efficiency whilst reducing solvent and reagent consumption. The platform supports synthesis scales from 0.05 to 1 mmol and accommodates commonly used resins for flexible laboratory workflows.
Rapid synthesis capabilities demonstrated
Operating in sequential mode, the Peptide-Builder can synthesise a GLP-1 analogue in under four hours, with capacity for up to sixteen analogues during unattended weekend operations. The system utilises less than three equivalents of amino acid and supports both linear and branched peptide synthesis with automated side-chain addition.
“VBFR technology is a true game-changer, boosting efficiency, streamlining workflows, providing unique in-process data and reducing space requirements without compromising performance,” explained
Dr Manuel Nuño.
Comprehensive synthesis reporting included
Each synthesis generates detailed reports providing insights into aggregation events and Fmoc deprotection, supporting trouble-shooting of challenging syntheses. The intuitive software, developed with pharmaceutical industry input, enables simple sequence entry and automated operation.
