Vetter earns platinum EcoVadis rating and secures SBTi validation for emission reduction targets
Vetter, the Ravensburg-based Contract Development and Manufacturing Organisation (CDMO), has reinforced its sustainability credentials with two significant recognitions: a Platinum rating from the internationally renowned EcoVadis sustainability ranking and official validation of its emission reduction targets by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
The EcoVadis Platinum status, awarded for the fourth consecutive year, places Vetter among the top one per cent of all rated companies globally — a benchmark that carries considerable weight across the pharmaceutical manufacturing and life sciences sectors.
Ambitious emissions targets validated
The SBTi validation formally endorses Vetter’s commitment to reducing absolute greenhouse gas emissions from Scope 1 and 2 by 58.8 per cent by 2034, against a 2021 baseline. Aligned with the Paris Agreement, the targets represent one of the more stringent standards for corporate climate action currently in operation. Measures to achieve these reductions include technical modernisation of facilities, utilisation of waste heat recovery, and a transition from natural gas to biomethane.
“We are proud of the various steps we are taking to reduce our company’s carbon footprint,” commented Managing Director Henryk Badack. “Both the validation by the SBTi and the Platinum rating from EcoVadis emphasise our strategic commitment to both people and planet.”
Renewable energy investment expanded
On the operational side, Vetter expanded its photovoltaic capacity in 2025, now covering 22 per cent of electricity needs at its Ravensburg Vetter West site. The company has also begun sourcing biomethane from a local supplier, generating an annual saving of over 1,000 tonnes of CO₂.
“In partnership with a local partner supplying biomethane directly to our sites, we unite climate protection with regional value creation and energy security,” said Gabriel Fischer, Team Lead Environment, Health & Safety / EHS Management Systems.
Additional initiatives include converting sealed car park areas into green spaces beneath photovoltaic installations, improving local microclimates and supporting natural rainwater infiltration.
