Asynt acquires flow chemistry specialist Uniqsis

In a strategic move to expand its chemistry technology portfolio, Asynt Ltd has completed the acquisition of flow chemistry specialist Uniqsis. The deal, finalised on 31 August 2024, encompasses the transfer of all Uniqsis staff, intellectual property, and equipment stock.

Enhancing continuous flow chemistry capabilities

Uniqsis, renowned for its expertise in mesoscale continuous flow chemistry systems and high-performance photochemistry tools, has been at the forefront of innovation since 2007. The company’s product line, including the FlowSyn, FlowLab, and FlowLab Plus ranges, has found applications across chemical and pharmaceutical research.

The acquisition is set to bolster Asynt’s already comprehensive suite of laboratory equipment, particularly in the realm of flow chemistry. This methodology has gained significant traction in medicinal chemistry and drug discovery processes, offering advantages such as improved reaction control, enhanced safety, and increased efficiency in the synthesis of complex molecules.

Synergistic expertise to benefit research laboratories

Steve Evans, Chief Commercial Officer of Uniqsis, highlighted the potential benefits of this merger: “The combination of Asynt’s expertise in multiple chemistry methodologies and our specialist knowledge of flow chemistry will allow us to provide laboratories with a broader spectrum of complimentary problem-solving products.”

This synergy is expected to be particularly valuable for medical research facilities and pharmaceutical companies seeking to optimise their synthetic processes and accelerate drug development pipelines.

Expanded support and development initiatives

As part of the acquisition, Asynt plans to enhance its customer support capabilities, particularly in the area of flow chemistry. The company has announced the addition of an experienced flow chemistry scientist to its team, underscoring its commitment to providing specialist expertise to its clientele.

This move is likely to be welcomed by medicinal chemists and process development teams who often require tailored solutions and expert guidance when implementing flow chemistry techniques in their research programmes.

The expanded Asynt product range now covers an extensive spectrum of laboratory equipment essential for medical and pharmaceutical research. This comprehensive offering positions Asynt as a one-stop solution provider for laboratories engaged in drug discovery, process optimisation, and medical research.
