Bio-rad launches new ddPCR kit for AAV vector characterisation
Vericheck ddPCR Empty-Full Capsid Kit aims to enhance gene therapy development
Bio-Rad Laboratories, Inc. has launched a new kit designed to analyse adeno-associated virus (AAV) vectors, a critical component in gene therapy development. The Vericheck ddPCR Empty-Full Capsid Kit utilises Droplet Digital PCR technology to determine capsid titer, genome titer, and the percentage of full capsids in both purified and unpurified AAV samples.
Precise quantification capabilities
The kit’s ability to analyse minimal amounts of crude lysate or purified samples provides researchers with a tool for robust and reproducible data generation. This feature is particularly valuable for assessing AAV vector quality, a crucial step in gene therapy production.
Addressing key challenges in gene therapy manufacturing
Stephen Kulisch, Vice President of Marketing for Bio-Rad’s Digital Biology Group, highlighted the kit’s relevance to current challenges in the field: “AAV vectors are a powerful gene therapy tool, but their production can result in the generation of product-related impurities, such as partial or empty capsids, which impact effectiveness and can elicit unwanted immunotoxicity. Determining the ratio of full, partial, and empty capsids is a recurring challenge throughout AAV gene therapy manufacturing, from early-stage development to quality control and release testing.”
The new kit aims to provide a comprehensive solution for AAV vector characterisation, offering high precision and specificity alongside ease of use and high-throughput capabilities. These features are designed to support researchers in optimising AAV vector characterisation processes and adhering to regulatory guidelines.
Cost-effective solution for streamlined development
Compatible with Bio-Rad’s Droplet Digital PCR Systems, the Vericheck ddPCR Empty-Full Capsid Kit presents a cost-effective option for laboratories engaged in gene therapy research and development. By enabling more efficient AAV vector characterisation, the kit may contribute to accelerating the development of safe and effective gene therapies.
The Vericheck ddPCR Empty-Full Capsid Kit is now available for use in laboratory settings.
