Torrey Pines Scientific introduces programmable multi-position stirring hot plate

A programmable five-position stirring hot plate offering precise temperature control and multiple stirring positions has been launched by Torrey Pines Scientific. The EchoTherm Model HS65 aims to enhance laboratory workflow efficiency in chemical, pharmaceutical, environmental and biochemical applications where reproducible sample preparation is essential.

Technical specifications

The new stirring hot plate features a 30.5 cm x 30.5 cm white ceramic glass heating plate, designed for optimal chemical resistance and rapid heating capabilities. The surface temperature range extends from ambient to 400°C, with direct temperature control to within 1°C of the target temperature using platinum RTD circuitry.

Laboratory personnel can store up to 10 programmes in the unit’s electronic memory, with each programme capable of containing 10 discrete steps. Each step can be configured with specific temperature settings, temperature ramp rates, stirring speeds and time parameters. The programmes can be set to repeat between 1 and 98 times or continuously if required.

The device offers independent control of stirring speeds across all five positions, ranging from 100 to 1500 rpm, with precision control to within 10 rpm via optical coupling technology. This feature enables researchers to simultaneously process multiple samples under different stirring conditions, enhancing laboratory efficiency.

Calibration and compliance

Each unit is supplied with an immersion probe and temperature calibration certificate traceable to NIST standards, ensuring measurement accuracy to within 1% of readings. The device maintains compliance with international safety standards, holding ETL, CSA and CE certifications.

The Model HS65 includes several practical laboratory features, such as a countdown timer with alarm functionality and user-adjustable automatic shutdown capabilities. An RS232 I/O port enables data connectivity, while the front panel membrane switch and liquid crystal display provide intuitive user interface control.

The device is available in multiple voltage configurations to accommodate differen laboratory power supplies worldwide, including 100, 115, and 230 VAC options, all compatible with 50/60 Hz power systems.
