Torrey Pines Scientific launches advanced shaking dry bath systems for molecular biology applications
Torrey Pines Scientific has introduced two innovative EchoTherm™ models for temperature-controlled sample processing in clinical and research laboratories. The SC20 and SC25 systems represent a significant advancement in combining precise thermal management with orbital mixing capabilities.
Dual-functionality enhances laboratory workflow efficiency
The newly announced units integrate Peltier-driven temperature control with variable-speed orbital shaking, addressing critical requirements for molecular biology applications. “Both have a temperature range from -20°C to 100°C and incorporate a variable speed orbital shaker for mixing and controlling the temperature of samples simultaneously,” according to the company.
The SC20 model features straightforward digital operation, whilst the SC25 offers enhanced programmability with 5-program memory making both ideal for use with biological and other samples. Both systems maintain temperature control precision to 1°C with shaking capabilities ranging from 200 to 1000 rpm.
Advanced monitoring and connectivity capabilities
Laboratory automation is enhanced through integrated data logging and connectivity features. Both units have a 30-day count down timer with alarm and Auto-off, data logger, and RS232 I/O port for data logging or controlling the units from a computer.
Versatile sample compatibility and regulatory compliance
The SC20XT and SC25XT variants accommodate extensive sample block configurations, supporting centrifuge tubes from 0.2ml to 50ml, PCR plates, microtitre plates, and various vial formats. The systems maintain ETL, CSA and CE compliance, ensuring international regulatory standards adherence.
These instruments enable unattended restriction digestions, enzyme reactions, and specialised applications including oocyte storage at 17°C.
