FineLine Technologies acquires Digi-Trax healthcare labelling specialist

FineLine Technologies has announced the acquisition of Digi-Trax Corp., a provider of healthcare labelling and identification solutions specialising in blood collection and cellular therapy applications. The deal, announced on 10 December 2025, marks FineLine’s strategic expansion into the healthcare sector and will see Digi-Trax operate as the company’s new Healthcare Division.

ISBT-128 compliant systems for critical applications

Digi-Trax’s portfolio centres on software and hardware solutions that meet ISBT-128 international standards for coding and labelling medical products of human origin, including blood, tissues and cellular samples. The company’s systems are designed to integrate with multiple health IT platforms and laboratory information systems, supporting traceability and regulatory compliance throughout the blood and cell-therapy supply network.

The product range includes HemaTrax ISBT compliant labelling system, HemaTrax-CT on-demand print solution for ISBT 128 cellular therapy labelling, and RepliTrax standalone barcode label replication system. These solutions are deployed across hospitals, blood centres and cell therapy facilities to maintain patient safety and data integrity from collection through to transfusion.

Leveraging global infrastructure and vendor networks

George Hoffman, CEO of FineLine Technologies, stated that the acquisition would enable the company to leverage Digi-Trax’s expertise whilst expanding its presence in the global healthcare sector. “Digi-Trax has an outstanding 40-year legacy of customer service and continuous innovation. Together we will offer customers an all-in-one labelling solution – from barcode hardware and supplies to software,” he said.

FineLine brings to the partnership a global RFID tag, label and packaging portfolio, with what the company describes as the largest US printing and encoding capacity. Its service bureau network manages data processing, quality control, packaging and distribution, producing and delivering billions of tickets and labels annually through global print hubs. The company operates with a network of more than 85,000 registered suppliers.

Continuity and innovation under new ownership

Jeff Kriozere, Digi-Trax owner and son of the company’s founder, will remain with the organisation to lead it into its next phase. “FineLine is the perfect partner to help us further enable hospitals, blood centres and cell therapy facilities to maintain regulatory compliance whilst improving operational efficiency,” Kriozere said. He emphasised that the team remains dedicated to providing the same level of products, service and support that customers expect, with the transition allowing the company to build on its legacy whilst continuing to innovate.

Supporting clinical laboratory workflows

The acquisition addresses ongoing requirements in clinical laboratories for accurate specimen identification and chain-of-custody documentation. ISBT-128 standardisation facilitates interoperability between different systems and institutions, reducing the risk of identification errors in blood banking and cellular therapy applications where traceability is essential for patient safety and regulatory compliance.

The combined entity will offer clinical laboratories integrated solutions spanning barcode hardware, consumables and software platforms, with the aim of streamlining workflows whilst maintaining compliance with international standards for medical product identification.
