Diaago launches AFYS3G Lambda8 laser engraving system for laboratory tube and rack identification
Diaago, a distributor of laboratory consumables and equipment based in Danville, California, has announced the availability of the AFYS3G Lambda8 Information Marking System, a benchtop laser engraving platform designed to deliver permanent, maintenance-free identification directly onto laboratory tubes and racks.
Permanent marking without consumables
Unlike conventional label-based or ink-printing systems, the Lambda8 engraves markings – including text, logos, serial numbers, batch identifiers, 1D barcodes, and 2D Data Matrix codes – directly into the surface of labware. The resulting marks become an integral part of the substrate, eliminating the risks of label peeling, ink fading, smudging, and the need for relabelling.
Markings produced by the Lambda8 are resistant to chemical exposure, abrasion, and temperature extremes ranging from +100°C to −196°C, making the system suitable for cryogenic storage, biobanking, sample management, and high-throughput workflows where long-term traceability is essential.
Specifications and compatibility
The Lambda8 accommodates one ANSI/SLAS-format rack or up to 25 tubes per run, and is compatible with tubes ranging from 0.30 mL to 15.00 mL. Supported labware manufacturers include Azenta (FluidX), LVL Technologies, and Micronic.
Key technical features include:
• High-resolution laser engraving capable of small text and detailed markings
• Support for 1D barcodes and 2D Data Matrix codes
• Customisable engraving of logos, shapes, and sample identifiers
• Compact benchtop footprint
• Optional air filtration system for controlled laboratory environments
• Elimination of label, ink, and ribbon consumables
By removing dependency on consumable labelling materials, the system is intended to reduce ongoing operational costs and support sustainability objectives within laboratory settings.
Workflow integration and configurations
The Lambda8 is designed for straightforward integration into existing laboratory workflows. Three configurations are available:
• A20106 – AFYS3G Lambda8 (for tubes and racks)
• A20107 – AFYS3G Lambda8 (for racks only)
• A20501 – AFYS3G Air Filtration System
Jackson Hyde, CEO of diaago, noted: “Laboratories are moving beyond temporary labelling solutions and looking for more reliable, permanent marking technologies that reduce workflow interruptions and improve longterm sample integrity. We’re excited to now have the Lambda8 in stock and available for researchers across North America.”
