Immunoglobulins are components of the adaptive immune system.

They are divided into distinct classes. IgA is found in serum and on mucosa as the first line of defense against incoming pathogens. Immunoglobulin IgM is produced first in response to initial exposure to an antigen. IgG represents the memory of the immune system, contributing ~ 75% of all serum immunoglobulins. Levels of IgG rise in acute and chronic infections, as well as in flare-ups. IgE is mainly responsible for the defense against parasites and plays a key role in type I allergic reactions such as hay fever or allergic asthma.

Serum levels of immunoglobulins IgA, IgE, IgG, and IgM support the diagnosis of ongoing, past, and chronic infections, allergies, autoimmune diseases, and immune deficiencies. DiaSys offers reliable and precise assays for the determination of these serum immunoglobulins, traceable to international standardized reference materials.
