Mettler Toledo launches stain-free cell counting system
METTLER TOLEDO has introduced the CytoDirect Cell Counter, an automated system offering stain-free cell counting and viability assessment for life sciences laboratories. The instrument combines digital holographic microscopy with machine learning to support efficiency and accuracy when determining cell viability, including in complex sample types.
Addressing routine quality control needs
Counting cells and assessing sample viability form an integral part of many bioscience workflows, and laboratories continue to seek ways of streamlining these operations to reduce costs and maintain robust processes. The CytoDirect Cell Counter provides fast, stain-free analysis in 15 seconds, intended to support rapid quality control checks. Advanced visualisation plots are included to support accurate data interpretation and allow users to fine-tune analysis settings, with the aim of improving reliability and confidence in results.
The system is designed to fit into a broad range of life sciences laboratory workflows, spanning academic and biopharma research settings, where it is intended to provide quality control while supporting daily operational efficiency.
Anders Lindh, General Manager of the Analytical Instruments Global Business Area at METTLER TOLEDO, commented: “The CytoDirect Cell Counter is a breakthrough in cell viability analysis, offering results in just 15 seconds without the need for staining. With our simple visualisation plots, users can perform a quick cell health check before commencing more in-depth analyses, such as flow cytometry, saving both time and costs.” METTLER TOLEDO is a global leader in precision instruments and services, recognised for innovation and quality across laboratory, process analytics, industrial, product inspection, and retailing applications. The company’s products are sold in more than 140 countries, with a direct presence in approximately 40 countries.
