BioMed X, an organisation focused on sourcing scientific talent and developing early-stage biomedical solutions for pharmaceutical partners, has announced that it will move its global headquarters to LAB22, a newly constructed building within Heidelberg Innovation Park (hip), Germany. Alongside the relocation, the company has entered into a partnership with BioLabs, a provider of shared laboratory infrastructure for life science organisations, under which BioMed X’s Heidelberg-based scientific teams will transfer their laboratory operations to BioLabs’ facilities in the same building.

New laboratory arrangement

Under the agreement, BioMed X researchers currently working in Heidelberg will conduct their laboratory work from BioLabs Heidelberg rather than maintaining separate premises. Housing both organisations within LAB22 is intended to give BioMed X scientists closer proximity to the wider innovation community based at the park, including startups and investors operating in the same ecosystem. The move is described as the first stage of what both parties characterise as a wider partnership, with further collaboration between BioMed X’s model for identifying research talent and BioLabs’ laboratory network in the United States, Europe and Asia under discussion.
