Thermo Fisher Scientific launches room-temperature-stable reverse transcriptase for RNA-to-cDNA workflows
Thermo Fisher Scientific has introduced Invitrogen™ SuperScript™ V Reverse Transcriptase, an engineered enzyme designed to make the conversion of RNA to cDNA faster, easier and more flexible.
Formats and intended users
The enzyme is available as a standalone product and in ready-to-use master mix formats, supporting workflows from individual experiments to high-throughput and automated cDNA synthesis. Thermo Fisher identifies three groups of users:
• molecular biology and genomics researchers performing RNA-to-cDNA workflows for gene expression, sequencing and transcriptomics;
• researchers working with challenging RNA, including low-input, degraded or inhibitor-rich samples;
• high-throughput laboratories, including core labs and other teams processing larger numbers of samples manually or through automated systems.
Key features
• Flexible setup: reactions can be prepared at room temperature, and assembled reactions remain stable for up to 24 hours. The company says this allows researchers to batch samples, manage delays and support manual, high-throughput and automated workflows.
• Speed: target detection is possible with reaction times as short as one to 10 minutes.
• Performance: SuperScript V supports sensitive, high-quality cDNA synthesis across a broad range of RNA samples, with thermostability up to 65°C.
• Simplified preparation: DTT-free formulations and ready-to-use master mix options reduce preparation and pipetting steps, while reduced cold-chain requirements offer greater flexibility in reagent handling and shipping.
“Our goal is to empower researchers to move from sample to insights faster and with greater confidence,” said Pawan Singh,
vice president and general manager, molecular biology, Thermo Fisher Scientific. “With SuperScript V, we’ve taken what researchers have trusted about SuperScript for decades and redefined what’s possible with faster, more flexible and highly stable RNA-to-cDNA synthesis.”
The product is for research use only and is not for use in diagnostic procedures.
