Biotech Fluidics launches non-invasive flowmeter range for liquid monitoring

Biotech Fluidics has introduced a range of non-invasive flowmeters designed for real-time monitoring of liquid flow across laboratory and process applications.

Heat dispersion measurement principle

The devices are based on the measurement principle of heat dispersion, offering time resolution intended to provide insight into flow variation and inconsistency. Each flowmeter is compact and supplied with PC software for continuous recording, monitoring and storage of measured flow rate data. Current flow rate is displayed on an integral OLED display, allowing users to identify transient pulsations and assess the flow stability of the device under observation. The flowmeters are compatible with most solvents and liquid reagents.

Four models across the flow range

The range comprises four models, each suited to a different flow rate range and application. The Biotech High Flow Meter operates at liquid flow rates of up to 650 mL per minute, with a resolution of 0.02 mL per minute, and is intended for process optimisation and monitoring of preparative chromatographs used to produce larger quantities of pure compounds.

The Biotech Semi-Prep Flow Meter covers an extended range of up to 40 mL/min, for continuous monitoring and validation of pumps serving straight and reverse phase preparative HPLC, flash and continuous processing systems, as well as bioreactor feed pumps. The Biotech HPLC Flow Meter operates over a range of 1 µL to 5 mL per minute, comes pre-calibrated, and can be connected inline to continuously measure flow rates of liquids from pumps serving HPLC and GPC/SEC systems, as well as flow chemistry reactors.

The Biotech Micro Flow Meter operates over a range of 0.01 to 80 µL per minute, with a resolution of 1 nL per minute, for monitoring of extremely low flow rates encountered in UHPLC, LC/MS and micro- and nanoscale bioprocessing applications.
