Evident launches FV5000 confocal and multiphoton microscope

Evident has launched the FLUOVIEW™ FV5000, a confocal and multiphoton laser scanning microscope engineered for photon-level quantitation, dual high-speed scanning, and AI-assisted imaging workflows – targeting researchers in neuroscience, cell biology, and drug development.

SilVIR detectors and photon counting technology

At the core of the FV5000 are Evident’s new SilVIR™ detectors, built on silicon photomultiplier technology combined with patented fast signal processing. The detectors are designed to capture individual photons across what the company describes as the widest dynamic range currently available in advanced microscopy, delivering high signal-to-noise performance and unsaturated, quantifiable data suitable for direct comparison across experiments.

The system also incorporates the first built-in laser power monitor in the industry, intended to ensure consistent and reproducible illumination – a feature with particular relevance for longitudinal studies and multi-site data collection.

“The FV5000 is a highly sensitive imaging system that truly combines beautiful images with fully quantifiable results,” said Gina He, Chief Product Officer at Evident. “Researchers walk away with valid, unsaturated data ready for comparison and analysis.”

Dual scanning for speed and resolution

The FV5000 integrates two next-generation scanning systems within a single platform: a 2K resonant scanner for rapid acquisition of live-cell dynamics, and an 8K galvo scanner for large-area imaging at high spatial resolution. Resonant scanning enables image acquisition up to nine times faster than galvo scanning, with resolution extending to 120 nm. The dual-scanner architecture allows researchers to switch between modes within a single workflow, reducing the need for separate instrument sessions.

AI-powered software and automated workflows

The FLUOVIEW Smart™ software interface provides a suite of AI-driven tools designed to reduce operator burden and standardise acquisition. These include Smart Sample Search, which locates samples in under one minute; Smart Laser Power Adjustment for automatic intensity balancing; and Intelligent Shading Correction for seamless image stitching. The integrated TruResolution™ technology automates objective correction collar adjustment, eliminating a traditionally manual and time-consuming calibration step.

“Every aspect of its interface has been engineered for real day-to-day science,” said He. “It’s all about saving time, consolidating steps and processes, and automating as much of the workflow as possible – all while ensuring clear images and accurate, defendable results.”

Multiphoton configuration available

The FLUOVIEW FV5000MPE extends the platform into multiphoton imaging via a compact fibre-pigtailed laser system. It is available either as an upgrade to an existing FV5000 system or as a fully configured multiphoton microscope, with fully tuneable laser configurations offered for more demanding applications.

“The FV5000 is our first Evident branded product, marking the beginning of a new chapter of innovation in microscopy and imaging,” said Wes Pringle, Evident CEO.
