Fully-automated platform for molecular diagnostics

Using Randox-patented Biochip Array Technology, Vivalytic is the easiest to use and most comprehensive multiplex PCR platform on the market. The device also supports single-plex and low-plex testing, simplifying the processes for otherwise complex laboratory test procedures. Depending on the test application, results will be delivered from 30 minutes. The first tests available on the Vivalytic are Randox’s panels for respiratory and sexually-transmitted infections (CE and FDA pending). The Respiratory Multiplex Array simultaneously detects 22 viral and bacterial pathogens including Bordetella parapertussis – without the need for secondary or confirmatory
testing to inform clinical treatment decisions. The STI (Sexually-Transmitted Infections) array enables the detection of 10 viral, bacterial and protozoan STIs from a single urine or urogenital swab sample. Every day more than 1 million STIs are acquired and many have no symptoms or only mild ones which may not be recognized as an STI. Chlamydia trachomatis, N. gonorrhoeae, Trichomonas vaginalis, and Treponema pallidum, all of which can be detected on the biochip, are among the most common causes. Identifying these infections correctly first time reduces the misuse of antibiotics and supports their targeted use, while saving costs associated with single infection detection.

Respiratory bacterial panel

Respiratory infections are common causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Regardless of the pathogen involved, similar symptoms can be observed making the diagnosis difficult to establish from only considering a symptom-based approach. The validation with ELITe InGenius offers many advantages to laboratories in comparison to other solutions available in the market: fully automated workflow from extraction to result interpretation, hand-on time reduced to a few minutes, and accurate results.
The CE-IVD ELITe InGenius respiratory menu will be further broadened in the coming months with a new Real-Time PCR assay for the detection of Mycobacterium tuberculosis and associated multidrug-resistant (rifampicin and isoniazid) forms.

Rabbit monclonal antibody to group B Streptococcus

However, when passed to infants at birth, GBS can cause severe disease that can be deadly. This makes it a leading cause of infections in newborns. Fortunately antibiotic treatment during delivery can protect the baby. ViroStat has released a new Rabbit Monoclonal Antibody specific to GBS. This antibody reacts with the GBS Lancefield carbohydrate antigen found on the surface of the bacterium. Semi-automated coagulometers

Automated pretreatment module for cell culture LC/MS analysis
, /in Product News /by 3wmediaThe new C2MAP-2000 automated pretreatment module for cell culture media analysis is intended for pretreating culture media samples by adding reagents such as a deproteinizing agent or internal standard substance, filtering of precipitated proteins, and diluting of samples. The C2MAP system combines the C2MAP-2000 module with a Shimadzu ultra-fast liquid chromatograph mass spectrometer (LC-MS/MS). By automating all the process steps from pretreatment to measurement, the C2MAP system shortens the culture media analysis time for up to 95 components in culture supernatants to one sixth of the previous level. In addition, this system can be operated by less experienced operators. After simply loading culture supernatant samples, reagents and pairs of filter and recovery vials, the C2MAP-2000 module is able to execute all steps from pretreatment to LC-MS/MS measurement without any human intervention. This seamless execution not only makes it easy to process samples unattended overnight or on non-working days, but also enables samples to be controlled using the same ID for all process steps. This minimizes the risk of selecting the wrong sample while ensuring traceability. C2MAP-TRENDS time-course viewer software loads the measurement data obtained and plots a line graph of temporal changes in each component concentration as trend graphs.

Human PCSK9 ELISA
, /in Product News /by 3wmediaPCSK9 protein (proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9) plays a major regulatory role in cholesterol homeostasis, mainly by reducing LDL-Receptor levels on the surface of hepatic cells. Reduced LDLR levels result in decreased metabolism of LDL-particles, which could lead to hypercholesterolemia. This activity made PCSK9 a novel target in cholesterol lowering therapy. The PCSK9 inhibitors (PSK9i) are a newer class of injectable drugs that have been shown to dramatically lower LDL cholesterol levels, by up to 60% when combined with a statin. PCSK9 inhibitors are monoclonal antibodies (MAbs), a type of biologic drug. PCSK9 has a key impact not only on circulating LDL-Cholesterol level but also on cardiovascular risk and atherosclerotic process. The determination of PCSK9 levels is obviously of great diagnostic as well as treatment monitoring importance. Applications include atherosclerosis, cardiovascular disease, lipid metabolism and diabetology.
BioVendor’s Human PCSK9 ELISA (RD191473200R) is a sandwich enzyme immunoassay for the quantitative measurement of PCSK9 in human serum and plasma samples (EDTA, citrate, heparin) using a 96-well assay format. The total assay time is less than 3.5 hours. Standard is recombinant protein and components of the kit are provided ready to use, concentrated or lyophilized. Limit of detection is 9 pg/ml.
