C. difficile GDH detection

, 26 August 2020/in Product News /by 3wmedia

Clostridium difficile is an anaerobic bacteria that grows in the intestine when the normal flora has been altered by treatment with antibiotics. Only toxigenic strains cause infections from mild-diarrhea to pseudomembranous colitis, potentially leading to death. Detection of Glutamate Dehydrogenase (GDH) that is an antigen marker of C.difficile proliferation allows significant cost reduction in lab diagnosis for suspected C.difficile samples. Positive GDH samples should be investigated further to test for the toxins A or/and B. The Coris C. diff-Strip is a ready-to-use immunochromatographic test that allows the specific detection of C.difficile GDH in stool specimens in a strip format. When the fecal suspension comes into contact with the strip, the solubilized conjugate migrates with the sample and both reagents come into contact with the anti-Clostridium GDH antibody adsorbed onto the nitrocellulose. If the sample contains C.difficile GDH, a red line develops. The result is visible within 15 minutes.

C268 Euroimmun EUROBlotOne

Fully automated immunoblot analysis

, 26 August 2020/in Product News /by 3wmedia

The EUROLINE Multiplex system unites the range of immunoblot profiles with the walk-away automation of the EUROBlotOne device. Each profile provides an optimal combination of highly purified native or recombinant antigens, which are contained on individual membrane chips to ensure optimal detection conditions for each antibody, and each strip contains an integrated control band. The EUROBlotOne system automates the entire procedure: from patient samples identifi cation and pipetting, to incubation and washing steps. Up to 44 strips can be incubated in parallel, and different conjugates and tests can be combined in one run. Following incubation, strips are automatically digitized using an integrated camera. Results are evaluated and interpreted using the EUROLineScan soft ware. Bands are automatically identified, quantified and assigned, and a complete results report is available minutes after the processing of the strips is finished. The data are administered and documented by the system; all images and data are electronically archived, eliminating the need to store potentially infectious blots. The programme easily integrates into LIMS.

C316 Diazyme

25-Hydroxy vitamin D assay

, 26 August 2020/in Product News /by 3wmedia

In line with current clinical needs, Diazyme’s new 25-Hydroxy Vitamin D Assay measures total true 25-Hydroxy Vitamin D levels (D2 + D3 levels) in both serum and plasma samples. Furthermore, the assay fully automates the removal of non-specific protein binding and cross reactivity that may occur in competing assays, thereby assuring results will be both precise and accurate.  The 25-Hydroxy Vitamin D assay is both fast and flexible with complete testing results in under 2 hours. The test is user-friendly and can be used manually or easily adapted for use on a wide range of fully automated microtitre plate readers, making it suitable for use in laboratories of all sizes and testing needs. Traditionally, testing of Vitamin D levels has been predominantly used for the diagnosis and management of patients with Vitamin D deficiency. Recent clinical studies though have linked Vitamin D deficiency to various diseases including cancers, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, osteoporosis, multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer’s disease and all-cause mortality.  This new understanding of the importance of Vitamin D levels has driven an increase in the number of physician requests for total 25-Hydroxy Vitamin D tests in the United States and worldwide. The assay takes a much shorter time and can be fully automated when it is run on ELISA instruments such as the Dynex DS2® and DSX® platforms.

Allograft inflammatory factor 1 ELISA

, 26 August 2020/in Product News /by 3wmedia

Designed for the measurement of AIF-1 in human serum and plasma, the innovative AIF-1 ELISA is suitable for the determination of a novel biomarker relevant particularly to the risk of transplant rejection or vasculopathy and graft versus host disease. Allograft inflammatory factor-1 (AIF-1) is an interferon gamma-inducible cytoplasmic protein constitutively expressed in inflammatory cells and inducible in vascular smooth muscle cells in response to injury or inflammatory stimuli, including rejection or balloon angioplasty. Its expression correlates with cardiac rejection and the development of cardiac allograft vasculopathy. AIF-1 expression levels and protein concentrations were also studied in atherosclerosis, nephritis, arthritis, breast cancer and others. The BioVendor assay meets all the requirements for the routine clinical use in manual manner as well as on open ELISA robotic systems.

Qualitative and quantitative hCG test

, 26 August 2020/in Product News /by 3wmedia

Vedalab’s new rapid test, h-CG-Check-1, is available in two versions: qualitative (for visual reading) or quantitative (for use with the Easy Reader instrument). The test has been specifically designed for the detection of human chorionic gonadotropin in whole blood, plasma or serum (using only 25μL of serum/plasma or 50μL of blood). Results are obtained within 5 to 10 minutes. These qualitative and quantitative rapid tests are particularly useful when examining injured women admitted to hospital emergency wards as they allow the practitioner to determine, in a very short time, whether or not the patient is pregnant so that medical care can be adapted accordingly.

Assay for free protein S antigen testing

, 26 August 2020/in Product News /by 3wmedia

Testing for protein S plays an important role in thrombophilia screening. The INNOVANCE® Free PS Ag (protein S antigen) assay employs polystyrene particles coated with monoclonal antibodies for highly specific determination of free protein S. The assay demonstrates high linearity and excellent precision over the entire calibrated measuring range, as well as high specificity for free protein S antigens with no major interferences, including those commonly incurred from rheumatoid factors and heterophilic antibodies. The test delivers excellent reagent stability, superb lot-to-lot consistency and correlation of results among all the coagulation analysers on which it runs. The test’s ease of use minimizes operator training, and the liquid formulation requires no mixing or preparation, loading easily onto coagulation analysers.
