Biotech Fluidics unveils standalone HPLC and UHPLC solvent delivery pump

Biotech Fluidics has announced the ASI 540, a standalone solvent delivery pump designed for use across a broad range of liquid chromatography applications, including UHPLC, HPLC, semi-preparative, preparative, and flash chromatography. The pump is available in several models that together cover liquid flow rate ranges from 0.5 µL/min to 300 mL/min.

Pressure tolerance and materials compatibility

Pump heads are offered in stainless steel or biocompatible PEEK, enabling the ASI 540 to withstand pressures up to 15,000 psi (1,050 bar) whilst remaining compatible with a wide range of solvents. All models incorporate a touchscreen display providing full control of pump functions, flow rates, and gradient programmes, with remote control also supported.

Performance and precision

Flow precision across the entire flow rate range exceeds 0.25%, with pulsations maintained below 1%. A notable design feature is the patented floating pump seal, which the company notes “stays perfectly aligned with the piston for reduced wear and longer seal lifetime.” The pump head is self-priming and incorporates an integral purge function to facilitate rapid solvent changes. The ASI 540 is CE certified and RoHS compatible. All user-serviceable components are accessed via the front panel, and the cartridge seal design is intended to make seal replacement straightforward. Biotech Fluidics describes the pump as “an affordable, standalone solvent delivery pump – design optimised for liquid chromatography applications.”
