CN Bio sets out speaker line-up for inaugural organ-on-a-chip e-symposium in December

CN Bio has announced the full scientific programme for its ‘From Insight to Decision’ e-symposium, an online event on organ-on-a-chip (OOC) technology. It will take place on 2 and 8 December 2026. The Cambridge, UK-based company said the sessions will offer practical guidance on using OOC within existing research and development strategies.

Responding to regulatory change

The e-symposium was launched in response to legislative and regulatory changes that are accelerating a global move towards human-relevant technologies in non-clinical research. It is intended to answer researchers’ common questions about adopting OOC. The programme will cover how OOC models are developed and where the technologies add most value. It will also look at how these approaches can provide mechanistic insight to support more confident pre-clinical decision-making.

Four sessions across two days

The free-to-attend event comprises four sessions: an OOC masterclass covering the fundamentals, followed by application-specific sessions on model development, ADME/DMPK and toxicology. The format combines panel discussions, in-depth presentations, peer case studies and interactive question-and-answer segments.

Speakers come from pharmaceutical companies, contract research and academic or research institutions. Dr Rachelle Prantil-Baun and Dr Dennis McDuffie of Novo Nordisk will take part, as will Dr Alexa Rizzolo of Bristol Myers Squibb. Dr Emma Arnesdotter of the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) and Dr Felice Mastroleo of the Belgian Nuclear Research Centre are also on the programme. They are joined by Dr Barry Jones of Pharmaron and Dr Clive Roper of Roper Toxicology Consulting. CN Bio will be represented by Dr Yassen Abbas, Dr Emily Richardson and Dr Gareth Guenigault.

Foundations for OOC technology

Dr Paul Brooks, chief executive officer of CN Bio, said: “Throughout 2026, regulators have laid the foundations for OOC technology to step up as a core decision-making platform for discovery and development pipelines. From Insight to Decision was created to support the next phase of this journey, bringing together the wider OOC community to share experiences, celebrate successes and discuss the challenges facing drug developers today. We’re pleased to invite researchers worldwide to join us in December and discover the benefits that OOC can bring to their own pipelines.”

CN Bio develops in vitro organ models and standardised workflows intended to recreate important aspects of human biology and improve prediction of how drugs will behave in patients. The company’s technology is used by 16 of the 20 leading global pharmaceutical companies and is FDA-recognised. Its models are delivered through the validated PhysioMimix® platform and through contract research services. The company says these can generate human-relevant data on safety, efficacy and pharmacokinetics before a candidate enters the clinic, helping to reduce clinical risk and reliance on animal models.
