Synthetic liquid collagen

, 26 August 2020/in Product News /by 3wmedia

Collagen SRP (Synthetic Reactive Peptide) is a synthetic type 1 collagen-like liquid polypeptide (PHG) that self-assembles into a helix to form fibrils. Synthetic collagen may be useful in laboratories investigating platelet function and reactivity, platelet activation, and cellular analysis. Research laboratories may utilize Collagen SRP to assess aspirin reactivity, detect multiple antiplatelet agents and to investigate metabolized and spiked samples. Collagen SRP will help save time, standardize results and obtain predictable and reproducible results.  It does not contain any human, animal or bacterial source material eliminating infectious disease risk. Collagen SRP is for research use only (RUO) and not for use in diagnostic tests, assays or procedures.

HEV ELISAs

, 26 August 2020/in Product News /by 3wmedia

Two new Anti-Hepatitis E Virus (HEV) ELISAs provide reliable detection of HEVspecific antibodies of class IgG and IgM. The IgG ELISA is, moreover, the only commercial HEV ELISA to provide quantification in international units (IU/ml). The assay is calibrated according to the WHO reference serum and shows first-rate linearity with respect to this standard. The ELISA microplates are coated with highly purified recombinant HEV structural proteins, which ensure high sensitivity and specificity in antibody detection. The Anti-HEV ELISAs are ideal for differential diagnosis, for epidemiological studies and, in combination with PCR, for blood donor screening. The tests are easy to perform and can be fully automated on microplate processing systems such as the company’s Analyzer series. Infections with HEV are the most frequent cause on non-A, non-B hepatitis worldwide. They are generally acquired fecal-orally via contaminated drinking water or food (e.g. insufficiently cooked pork). HEV is endemic primarily in countries with low standards of hygiene, but is also increasingly observed in industrialized nations. HEV infections generally take a mild course, but in rare cases they can lead to acute liver failure. Prognosis is particularly poor in pregnant women, and in this group the mortality rate reaches up to 20%. Since an HEV infection resembles hepatitis A and other hepatides in the preliminary stages, differential diagnostic tests as part of the clinical and laboratory investigation are essential. Alongside PCR analysis of viral RNA in blood or stool, the serological detection of HEV-specific IgM and IgG antibodies plays a decisive role in acute HEV diagnostics.

Cystatin C Reagent

, 26 August 2020/in Product News /by 3wmedia

Cystatin C high quality reagent, from Randox Laboratories

Cystatin C is a small cysteine proteinase inhibitor produced at a constant rate by all nucleated cells.  The small molecular weight of Cystatin C allows it to be removed and completely broken down by the kidneys.

Advantages of Cystatin C over Creatinine include:

  • It is virtually unaffected by non-renal factors, such as muscle, mass, weight, height or age;
  • Highly sensitive to small changes in GFR;
  • Can be used to monitor renal function in individuals with liver disease.

The Randox Cystatin C reagent is suitable for both serum and plasma samples; liquid ready-to-use, offers excellent precision and has a wide measuring range allowing normal and abnormal values to be measured without any additional dilution.

Seroconversion panels for hepatitis B and HIV

, 26 August 2020/in Product News /by 3wmedia

Three new seroconversion panels provide difficult- to-find patient samples for Hepatitis B and HIV and have been tested on today’s market-leading assays. Each panel represents a single donor and demonstrates how that donor’s blood converts in the presence of the disease during the sample collection period, presenting a unique challenge to the assay. Each product’s data sheet provides a graphical depiction of the donor’s seroconversion, along with comparative data that enables customers to review their test results against the results of other industry assays. HBV Seroconversion Panel (PHM938) comprises six undiluted plasma samples from a single donor drawn over a six-day period and is HBV DNA positive from the first bleed. HBV Seroconversion Panel (PHM939) provides five undiluted plasma samples from a single donor drawn over a 21-day period and is also HBV DNA positive from the first bleed. These panels allow for challenging members for HBsAg assays and HBeAg assays, delivering results for both rapid and qualitative HBsAg methods. HIV-1 Seroconversion Panel (PRB978) provides seven undiluted plasma samples from a single donor and is designed to challenge HIV RNA positive members on traditional antibody methods.

C. difficile GDH detection

, 26 August 2020/in Product News /by 3wmedia

Clostridium difficile is an anaerobic bacteria that grows in the intestine when the normal flora has been altered by treatment with antibiotics. Only toxigenic strains cause infections from mild-diarrhea to pseudomembranous colitis, potentially leading to death. Detection of Glutamate Dehydrogenase (GDH) that is an antigen marker of C.difficile proliferation allows significant cost reduction in lab diagnosis for suspected C.difficile samples. Positive GDH samples should be investigated further to test for the toxins A or/and B. The Coris C. diff-Strip is a ready-to-use immunochromatographic test that allows the specific detection of C.difficile GDH in stool specimens in a strip format. When the fecal suspension comes into contact with the strip, the solubilized conjugate migrates with the sample and both reagents come into contact with the anti-Clostridium GDH antibody adsorbed onto the nitrocellulose. If the sample contains C.difficile GDH, a red line develops. The result is visible within 15 minutes.

C268 Euroimmun EUROBlotOne

Fully automated immunoblot analysis

, 26 August 2020/in Product News /by 3wmedia

The EUROLINE Multiplex system unites the range of immunoblot profiles with the walk-away automation of the EUROBlotOne device. Each profile provides an optimal combination of highly purified native or recombinant antigens, which are contained on individual membrane chips to ensure optimal detection conditions for each antibody, and each strip contains an integrated control band. The EUROBlotOne system automates the entire procedure: from patient samples identifi cation and pipetting, to incubation and washing steps. Up to 44 strips can be incubated in parallel, and different conjugates and tests can be combined in one run. Following incubation, strips are automatically digitized using an integrated camera. Results are evaluated and interpreted using the EUROLineScan soft ware. Bands are automatically identified, quantified and assigned, and a complete results report is available minutes after the processing of the strips is finished. The data are administered and documented by the system; all images and data are electronically archived, eliminating the need to store potentially infectious blots. The programme easily integrates into LIMS.
